CLS Kick-Off: THEMIS SAR System for Irish Coast Guard

On June 26, CLS organized a THEMIS SAR kick-off meeting for the IRCG – Irish Coast Guard.

CLS has been awarded to provide a Search and Planning System for Search & Rescue operations.

In addition to core SAR functions, a key feature of this contract will be the integration of oil slick drift modelling within THEMIS SAR. This new improvement is a significant advantage in the SAR market, as Maritime Rescue Coordination Centers (MRCCs) are sometimes responsible for monitoring pollution near the coast.

Ireland relies on three centres for its sea rescue missions: MRCC Dublin, MRSC Malin, and MRSC Valentia. They work closely with each other and being able to rely on a web-based solution designed for a multi-user collaboration is a real gain in efficiency. THEMIS SAR, hosted by CLS and deployed as Software as a Service (SaaS), ensures rapid deployment, efficient commissioning, and immediate operationality.

The Irish Coast Guard will benefit from two working environments: one for production, ensuring effective and operational work, and another one for training, covering all training operations and maintenance of the solution and processes. The IRCG is also guaranteed a high availability rate thanks to our operations centre. Our certified operators take turns night and day, in teams that include system, network, security and database administrators, as well as dedicated operations engineers and 24h decision-making on-call duty.
